Edit 8/1/10: A lot of thanks to ^DragonWinter who featured this deviation as a DD and to all the deviants who faved it. When I started making fractals I would've never imagined to get a DD, let alone two!

Abstinence, in a sense, can be from all sorts of things, not only drugs or alcohol. And so, almost everyone experience its cold metal cutting through their soul, sooner or later in their lives.

One of my newest ones. I've been a little fixed on rotationals, lately.

And it is for :iconheavenriver:, who asked for the first in my list of wannabe uploaded fractals. :D To be true, this wasn't really the first one, which instead was a fractal that I will directly upload into scraps, if I ever do, so that one did not count. :)

Distant and nostalgic, Abstinence is a piece which expresses the feeling of longing very well, and in a very elegant way. The eye is suddenly caught by the more or less central black curve, or cave, suggesting something that's gone missing; the arm revolving around it gently fades away, as if it wasn't able to sustain the lack of what it has lost. Colours gradually switch to warm tonalities after the initial mint green, but orange and purple are both so feeble that they can only remark the sensation of incompleteness, further impressed in the cold dark black. All of the fractal is a continuous grieving, an unsatisfied wish to feel alright, and the ominous presence of something gone wrong in one's own mind: a great example of introspective, and deeply psychological abstract art.
